WASHINGTON D.C., September 13, 2024: The National Council on U.S. – Arab Relation’s Board Chairman John E. Pratt and President and CEO H. Delano Roosevelt have released the following statement on the passing of our dear friend and Member of the Board of Directors of the National Council Dr. Raymond Jallow.

“It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of our beloved National Council Board Member Dr. Raymond Jallow. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends and hope that they may find solace at this difficult time.

Dr. Jallow’s groundbreaking career in economics coupled with his strong sense of service to others and to the vital cause of building bridges between Arabs and Americans made a profound impression on all who had the privilege to meet and work with him. In particular, he was deeply committed to educating Americans about the Arab region, the Middle East and the Islamic world, and his enormous dedication and efforts have left a powerful example for others.

Dr. Jallow drew on his experience as an immigrant to the United States and the opportunity to live the American dream and gave back to his communities. He generously extended his time and shared his wisdom and wit with so many. He supported many important causes, including his work with our grateful colleagues at the National Council on U.S. – Arab Relations.

Just two weeks ago, we were with Dr. Jallow in Los Angeles, California where he presided over the presentation of the Dr. Raymond Jallow Lifetime Achievement Award to Egyptian Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and Founder and Chairman of Cleopatra Group His Excellency Mohammad Abou El Enein in the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Room aboard the historic battleship USS Iowa. During this event, Dr. Jallow reminded all of us to use our collective power to advance education, peace, justice, and mutual respect in this troubled world.

Dr. Jallow thought creatively about some of the most challenging business, economic, political and social issues of our time with honesty and candor. He mentored young people and encouraged them to be active citizens of society and to use their voice to pursue good. He will always be remembered for his infectious smile, the twinkle in his eye and above all else, his fundamental decency.

His sense of peace, justice and equality left an indelible mark on our world. His absence will be profoundly felt. While we mourn his passing, we celebrate his remarkable life. His legacy will undoubtedly serve as an inspiration for generations to come.”

We will miss you Ray. Thank you for the privilege and honor of knowing you. You have made a defining difference in our lives and we are eternally grateful.
