Bahrain health centre in Gaza takes key role

His Majesty King Hamad has issued directives to prepare the Bahrain health centre in Khan Younis to provide medical care for civilians wounded in Gaza. He tasked Royal Charity Organisation (RCO) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to implement the instructions and be assured of the safety of affiliates of the Bahrain School in Tal Al Hawa district. Following the royal directives, RCO Secretary-General Dr Mustafa Al Sayed met representative of the UNRWA Commissioner-General Peter Ford and was assured on the readiness of the Bahrain health centre in Khan Younis to receive and treat those injured as a result of the brutal Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip.

Israel should lift siege of Gaza Strip, says Emir

The Emir said it was time to urge the Israelis to lift the siege on Gaza, noting that the Strip was a free territory and should not be blockaded.  He praised Egypt’s opening of the Rafah crossing for humanitarian assistance and for allowing Gazans to move through the crossing. On the ability of the Arab League’s decisions to deter Israel’s aggression or to provide protection for Palestinians in Gaza, the Emir said the hope was there; however, it was natural for Israel not to stop its aggression unless it met a strong resistance in Gaza, similar to the resistance put up by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon in 2006.

UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed has spoken out against the idleness of the international community during the Israeli offensive on Gaza. “The problem is if the international community keeps considering the Palestinian issue as a secondary topic and does not take serious steps to stop such brutal attacks,” he said.
