Opposition threatens to boycott polls if law changed – Amir accepts resignation of Cabinet, to start talks

The government has said that it submitted its resignation in a bid to rectify the flawed procedures and to open the way for the formation of a new government that will fulfill all constitutional requirements in a bid to prevent similar flawed procedures from happening again. The Amir is scheduled to open traditional consultations today with former premiers and former and present Assembly speakers in addition to leading political figures ahead of asking the prime minister to form a new Cabinet.

The campaign was launched in cooperation with the Khalifa bin Zayed Humanitarian Foundation and the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Foundation. The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, earlier in June this year approved a Dh500-million aid to Yemen.

Young environmentalists from across the GCC are meeting at a major forum in Bahrain in a bid to raise awareness on the importance of having “green” policies and legislation in the region.

The sixth annual GCC Environmental Youth Forum opened yesterday (July 1) at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence and Spa and was held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad’s personal representative Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa.

The week-long event focuses on three fundamental elements – the youth, GCC unity and environmental education
