Top priority to Kuwait security, stability – Interior clarifies stand

It expressed hope that those activists would take into consideration the higher interests of Kuwait, and place them higher than personal ones. Some young men have been incited to carry out riots and violence and promote such acts on the social networking sites with the aim of portraying an inaccurate image abroad about conditions in the country. It warned these young activists that they would find them alone facing justice, while their supporters would back off. Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry denied rumors about the refusal of some members of the special forces to participate in breaking up the riots and stop violence caused by the demonstrators in the square opposite of the National Assembly.

Saudi envoy murder plot: Suspect pleads guilty

Iranian-American citizen Manssor Arbabsiar Wednesday pleaded guilty to plotting with the Iranian military to kill the Saudi ambassador to United States. Appearing at the New York federal court where he had been due to stand trial in January, Arbabsiar entered a surprise guilty plea. He faces up to 25 years in prison at his sentencing, which was set for Jan. 23.
Judge John Keenan asked Arbabsiar: “Is it true that about the spring of 2011 up until the fall of 2011 that you and your co-conspirators … who were officials in the Iranian military, that you agreed to cause the assassination of the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the United States?”

Wary Yemen refugees returning to former Qaeda-run towns

Of the around 70,000 who sought refuge in Aden, some 30,000 remain, most of them camped out in schools that want them to leave so they can reopen. The refugees are resisting, however. They say that many of their homes are still in ruins and al Qaeda militants are still operating in their communities, making the resumption of hostilities possible at any time. Since Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula was formed by Saudi and Yemeni militants in 2007, the group has carried out suicide attacks against Western tourists and foreign officials, sent a bomber into Saudi Arabia in a bid to kill a senior prince and tried to send explosive packages on planes bound for the United States.
