June 30, 2025, Washington, D.C., U.S.A.: The Board of Directors of the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations (“National Council” or “Council”), an American non-profit, non-governmental, educational organization, announces that Mr. H. Delano Roosevelt, will step down from his role as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Council on June 30, 2025.
Mr. Roosevelt, who previously served on the National Council Board of Directors, will continue his involvement with the National Council’s leadership team as President and CEO Emeritus.
Board Chairman John E. Pratt and the National Council’s Board of Directors remarked, “We want to thank Del for his leadership of the Council’s educational mission over the past two years. His dedicated service, passion and energy have contributed greatly to strengthening our programs focused on building bridges of knowledge and understanding between America and the Arab region. We wish Mr. Roosevelt every success in his new role in the private sector and look forward to his continued engagement with the National Council in the years ahead.”
In announcing his transition, Mr. Roosevelt remarked, “It has been a privilege and honor to serve as the Council’s second President and CEO. The National Council is an organization dear to me and provided a forum to carry on a family tradition of service to the American people.” He added, “I look forward to continuing to offer my assistance and guidance to the National Council as I did prior to assuming the Presidency.”
Significantly, it has been 80 years since Mr. Roosevelt’s grandfather met with King Abdul Aziz and set the foundation for an enduring bond of friendship between the peoples of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States. Building on this legacy, we at the Council are honored to have had Delano serve as our President and CEO and are very grateful indeed for his personal commitment to furthering relations with our friends across the Arab World.
