Saudi King’s efforts to unite Ummah applauded

King Abdullah has presented an effective solution to end the division and disruption in the Islamic world. “In his speech at the Islamic summit, King Abdullah warned against sedition, which has been the main reason for blood-shedding in the Islamic world. He said King Abdullah’s speech presented a roadmap for Muslim unity. He hoped the Muslim Ummah would accelerate its efforts to implement the king’s proposal.

Key changes made in parliament’s by-law

HIS Majesty King Hamad yesterday issued a decree, amending a law on parliament’s by-law.

It stipulates that parliament’s bureau comprises the chairman, two deputy chairmen and heads of committees.

Parliament can submit written proposals to the government on public matters and the government shall respond in writing within six months.

France, Qatar agree on Syria and coordination on policy there

An official statement said that the two men had discussed bilateral relations but “the conversation principally addressed the situation in Syria.” Hollande, for the third day running, reiterated his view that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad must step down if there is to be a political settlement in Syria.
