Kingdom backs Arab League efforts to end Syria bloodshed

The Council of Ministers on Monday commended resolutions adopted by an extraordinary meeting of the Arab League Ministerial Council on the situation in Syria.

The meeting, held in the Qatari capital Doha Sunday night, underscored the importance of providing the necessary support to the Syrian people and intensifying efforts to end the continuing bloodshed in the Arab Muslim country.

 Opposition MPs yesterday strongly blasted statements by National Assembly speaker Jassem Al-Khorafi in which he called for referring the electoral law to the constitutional court to ensure it does not breach the constitution. Khorafi’s call came at a press conference on Monday at which he said he will invite members of the reinstated 2009 National Assembly to meet on July 31. If no quorum is guaranteed for the meeting, Khorafi said he will invite for another meeting on August 7 and then refer the issue to the Amir.

Additionally, in 2012, the UAE has recorded the first place globally in the field of efficiency of governmental fiscal policy issued by the International Institute of Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland.

Furthermore, the country’s legal and regulatory environment is more than adequate as according to the World Bank’s 2011 World Governance Indicators (based on figures for 2010), the UAE scores reasonably well comparing to other countries in the region for its rule of law.
