Text Box: from different regional models is exciting. I’ve no doubt that the experience of administering such a large scale Model will be invaluable."
Josie also spoke of how the Models have influenced her career goals. "When I entered college," she said, "my goal was to attend graduate school and become an attorney in the United States Army. After two and a half years with Model Arab League, however, I’ve decided to work on Middle East issues for our government."

Text Box: WASHINGTON, NOVEMBER 2003 — Josie Fingerhut is a junior at long-time Model participant Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is participating in her third Model Arab League season. In November, at the Northeast University Model in Boston, she served as chair of the Joint Defense Committee. She will serve as the Assistant Secretary General of the coming year's National University model in April.
Although Converse College has always been a powerhouse in the Model Arab League, the Northeast Model included delegations from Harvard, Cornell, and Dartmouth, along with first time MAL delegations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and Bentley College.
Asked about her delegation’s expectations in competing with schools of this caliber, Josie said, "The challenge brought by these Ivy League schools was as high as we expected."
Converse's representation of Kuwait won it an Outstanding Delegation Award alongside Harvard. The host, Northeastern University, received an Honorable Mention Text Box: for its Syria delegation. Josie also received the Best Chair Award for her work in the Joint Defense Committee.
Josie is excited about the prospects for the upcoming National MAL. As Assistant Secretary General, she will have a significant role in the preparations for the event. “The group of people coming to the National Model will be one of the best groups we've seen: assisting with this Model is giving me my first opportunity to organize such a large and disparate group of people.
